1. Check Speaker Settings
If you are using the Zoom app for conference calls and can’t hear people or no one can hear you, you need to check that you’ve unmuted your mic on Zoom or that your computer volume is on.
After checking if both things are ok, but the audio is still not working, it might be possible that the speakers of your Zoom are set to another setting. To change this during the call, follow these steps:
- Click the symbol of Caret (^) on the Audio key located at the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Choose Audio Settings.
- Tap on the Speaker drop-down menu, present under the speaker section.
- Choose the speaker you want to use.
- Under the same section, you need to tap on the Test Speaker to ensure that your speaker’s audio is working correctly and that the in-app volume is high enough. If your speakers have an issue, you can use headphones instead.
2. Check Your Internet Connection
Remember that a Zoom app consumes high bandwidth when you are video conferencing. If you know the technical stuff, you must know that during an audio or video call, our device transmits a complex set of data packets to the receiving device.
When you’ve poor internet or slow speed connection, it causes poor quality streaming and buffering disconnection. A minor fluctuation in the WIFI network causes high latency, and some of those data packets are lost during the journey. Last in audio cutting in or out and lagging video. It can also lead to disconnecting Zoom, so avoid any important meetings when the internet signals aren’t stable.
3. Check Your Computer Volume
Another reason you cannot hear audio during a Zoom call is it might be possible that your computer volume is too low or entirely muted. You need to turn up the audio of your computer volume using the volume key and check if there is any difference.
If it doesn’t work, try using the Volume Mixer on Windows 10 and 11 to change the volume settings of the Zoom app. To change the Volume settings, follow these instructions:
- Click on the Volume icon in the taskbar.
- Choose Open Volume Mixer.
- Ensure that both volume, System Volume, and Zoom Volume sliders are high enough so you can hear audio easily.
4. Check Bluetooth Connection Settings
If you use a wireless headset during a Zoom call, ensure that you have Bluetooth enabled. To do this, you need to go to your Bluetooth Settings on your device or portable tool and turn on Bluetooth.
You also need to check that you’ve not connected to another Bluetooth device accidentally. Make sure only to select the device you are using. If you are not using the wireless headsets, you need to disable your Bluetooth if it is interfering with your speaker’s or audio and directing it elsewhere.
5. Update The Zoom Application
Apps like Zoom keep updating, so you must keep yourself updated frequently. If you don’t install the latest zoom, you might face audio problems because outdated versions may not allow audio to work correctly with various other issues.
If you want to resolve this, follow these instructions:
- Go to your Zoom app’s dashboard.
- In the top right corner, there will be an initials icon, tap on it.
- Select check for updates on the drop-down Menu.
- If it shows the latest updates are available, proceed further to install them.
6. Choose The Correct Audio Output
Zoom allows its user to select the audio output they desire. It’s up to you to know whether you want to use headphones or speakers for playing Zoom audio. Make sure to choose the right speakers because if you tap on the wrong ones, you cannot hear anything.
To select the right speaker or headset in your zoom app, follow these instructions:
- Move your mouse in the Zoom window to bring the Menu.
- Tap on the arrow next to the Microphone icon.
- Choose your speaker Under Select a Speaker.
7. Restart Your Phone
Whenever you face any issue on any device, whether it’s your smartphone or computer, reboot it. Restarting the device fixes various bugs, such as audio or speakers issues or any other software-related problem. It is an age-old technique that you can use for troubleshooting Zoom audio problems.
When you restart your PC, it means you’ve cleared the running processes. For instance, if another app is interfering with Zoom audio, it’d be resolved by rebooting the device.
To do so, turn off the device and then turn it on. Launch the Zoom app, and you’ll see audio problems are resolved.
8. Reinstall Zoom App
After trying all the mentioned solutions, if you are still facing Zoom audio problems, then this fix might help. Install the Zoom app from your device and then reinstall it. It can fix any settings problem you might have accidentally changed and cannot find it again. It also improves the corrupted Zoom files.
